About Friends of PAHO

Friends of PAHO is a nonpartisan network dedicated to building and sustaining U.S. support for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)—the oldest international health organization in the world and one of the most effective investments the United States has ever made in its own health, economic, and national security.

PAHO was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1902 under the leadership of President Theodore Roosevelt. For 124 years, it has protected Americans from disease threats, delivered early warnings through a surveillance network spanning 26 countries, and advanced U.S. leadership and economic interests across the Western Hemisphere. That record deserves a strong American voice behind it.
